5. SALIENT FEATURES OF OUR SERVICES?

The Insight Counselling Service (ICS) is available from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Each counselling slot is booked for one hour; however, counselling session may last for only 45 to 50 minutes.

  • The ICS has adopted Ethical Framework for Counselling Practitioners of British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).  We have committed ourselves to work to the Code of Ethics & Practice.  The purpose of this code is to establish and maintain standards for the services provided by the ICS and to inform and protect people who seek or use it.

  • Most of our counsellors are qualified and have one of the professional qualifications at master's degree or an equivalent qualification level in Counselling Psychology, Clinical psychology, Social Work, Psychiatric Social work, Medical Social Work, Psychotherapy and General Psychology or have any other master's degree or an equivalent qualification with General psychology as a one of the main subjects.

  • Our counsellors are trained in counselling skills and their practice is regularly supervised by the experienced counsellors.  Most of our counsellors are fluent in English in addition to at least one Indian language and work in culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.

  • Our service is confidential – which means that the information you share with us will not be divulged to anyone outside the ICS, except in circumstances involving child protection and criminal justice concerns.  In such circumstances, we are obliged by law to pass on such information to relevant authorities, but only as much as is appropriate.  If this is the case, you will be kept informed and where possible we will seek your prior permission. However, you reserve the right not to disclose any information, which you do not wish us to pass on.

  • We keep records of information that you share with us.  No one has access to these records except members of staff and your counsellor.  You can request in writing to us if you wish to see your records.

  • The aim of the counselling process at the ICS is to empower you and provide you with opportunities to work in self-defined ways, towards living in more satisfying and resourceful way as individual and as member of the broader society.

  • The ICS aims to provide the best possible counselling service.

  • From time to time an individual or organisation may feel aggrieved from some aspect of our services. In such instances, you will have recourse to our Complaints Procedure.  We will make all possible efforts to ensure that your complaint is investigated, and appropriate actions are undertaken within reasonable time limits.

  • In order to provide a high quality, confidential and culturally appropriate counselling service and to ensure that we are maintaining high standards, we highly value the views, opinions and suggestions of all our service users. Towards the end of the service, you may be asked to complete feedback form at the end of each counselling session and one at termination of your counselling relationship with us.  This will help us to make improvements to our services.  The information you provide in this form will be kept confidential and used only for monitoring purposes.
